Call & Write Gov. Evers NOW!

After passing the Assembly earlier this month, and with the addition of a “feel good” amendment aimed at getting more Democratic support and preventing a Gov. Evers veto, the bill to enshrine into WI law the IHRA definition of anti-Semitism –which includes criticism of Israel — has passed the State Senate and will shortly be heading to the governor’s desk.
On Tuesday March 17, our Senators hid behind a voice vote to pass the IHRA bill. There was no debate, no explanation, no accountability. This is exactly what the Senate did in 2018 when they passed a bill to severely restrict BDS against Israel in Wisconsin. (A bill has just been introduced to repeal that prohibition.)
Right now, we need you to call and emailGovernor Tony Evers and insist that he veto the IHRA bill (AB446/SB445). A short message is best. You may however want to mention that this bill opens the state of Wisconsin to potentially expensive lawsuits.
- Phone: Madison 608-266-1212 or Milwaukee 414-227-4344
- Email: Contact via Government Portal (It seems this link changes often. If it doesn’t work, search for “Contact Gov. Tony Evers” and it will come up, select “Voice an Opinion”.)
Thanks,
Barb O.
Every Republican voted for these bills. For the name-and-shame details on which Democrats voted for the bill in the Assembly and sponsored it in the Senate, see this Facebook post from WI Right to Boycott.
