- Insist on an immediate and permanent cease-fire in Gaza & the West Bank and a negotiated peace settlement.
- End blockades by Israel of humanitarian aid to Gaza.
- End US financial & military support of Israel’s attacks on Gaza & the West Bank.
Cosponsors: Friends Meeting of Madison, the Interfaith Peace Working Group, Jewish Voice for Peace, Madison for a World Beyond War, Mennonite Action Madison, Orchard Ridge United Church of Christ, and Palestine Partners
Here’s video of a prior vigil. Stop by and show your support.
From organizers Jane and Paula:
We have resumed our protest of the Israel government’s genocidal war on Gaza and attacks on the West Bank. We will be at the Main St/King St corner of the Capitol Square mall on the second Sat of each month from now through November 2025 or until the war ends.
We plan to set out 200 pairs of shoes from 8-9 am, leaflet and speak with passers by for 3 hours, then pack up the shoes at noon. The shoes are a symbol of the lives lost in this war – over 61,000 as of 4/17/2025 (per the Gaza Govt. Info Office and Palestinian Ministry of Health in the West Bank).
We may also read the names of the dead if we have Arabic speaking volunteers. We want to raise awareness about the suffering of the Palestinians in Gaza and the West Bank and urge people to write their congressional representatives.
The vigil will repeat at the farmers market on 6/14/25, 7/12/25, 8/9/25, 9/13/25, 10/11/25 and 11/8/25.
Please come be part of the vigil. If you can help with setting up or packing up, email Jane Kavaloski or Paula Rogge.
