Capitol Square
7:30 am
During this summer and fall members of the Madison Friends Meeting, the Madison Mennonite Church, and other local faith and peace groups have participated in a monthly event at Madison’s Saturday Farmers Market on the Square to raise awareness of the devastation of this conflict. Two hundred pairs of shoes are placed on the Capitol mall to represent the lives that have been lost. American Friends Service Committee signs are put in the shoes with the messages Ceasefire Now, End the Blockade of Humanitarian Aid to Gaza, and End US Military Aid to Israel.
We will be at the Capitol this Saturday, October 12 to set out the shoes and signs and to read the names of the dead in Gaza, the West Bank, and Israel, starting with the youngest victims.
We can use help laying out and packing up the shoes, talking to passers-by, and reading the names of the dead. Please email Jane Kavaloski or Paula Rogge if you would like to join us.
