This morning, as the war escalates tragically between Iran and Israel, Senator Tim Kaine introduced a War Powers Resolution in the Senate.  

This could be our last, best chance to prevent the United States from being dragged into a catastrophic war with Iran.The vote could come any day now, and it will take all of us, raising our voices together, to make sure Congress does the right thing.

Please, take action right now. Contact your senators and urge them to cosponsor and vote YES on the Kaine War Powers Resolution.

You may have seen that the U.S. is already far more involved in these attacks than administration officials are letting on. We know how quickly “support” can turn into direct involvement. Despite what the White House says, the truth is coming out:

• The U.S. has already provided Israel with real-time intelligence and the very bunker-buster bombs used in the recent strikes on Iran.[1] 

• Our military has intercepted Iranian missiles, putting American lives and credibility on the line.[1]

• Israeli officials say the strikes were in fact coordinated with the U.S., claiming that the Trump Administration publicly pretended to oppose an Israeli attack but gave Israel a “clear U.S. green light”.[2]

Of course, I am not at all surprised that Trump and Rubio are outright lying. But I am angry and scared for what this could mean for families in the Middle East and for our own communities. Underlining the urgency, former U.S. deputy ambassador to Israel Richard LeBaron put it, “The question now is not whether, but how, the United States will be dragged into a war it does not want.” We need to pivot to a ceasefire and diplomacy immediately. 

At the same time, I’m hopeful because I know what we can do when we act together. We’ve stopped wars before. We’ve forced Congress to listen. And we can do it again—if we move quickly.

Can you write your senators TODAY? Urge them to cosponsor and vote YES on the Kaine War Powers Resolution to prevent a full-blown U.S. war with Iran.

This is about more than politics. It’s about lives—about refusing to let another generation be lost to war. It’s about demanding honesty, accountability, and a foreign policy that puts peace first.
