Police Civilian Oversight Board and Community Partners to Co-Host Forum on Police Accountability and the MPD Officer Killing of Corey Ruiz

MADISON, WI The Police Civilian Oversight Board (PCOB), in partnership with the Community Response Team, Freedom, Inc., and the Social Justice Center, will co-host a community forum focused on police accountability, public safety, and systemic reform following the Madison Police Department (MPD) officer killing of Corey Ruiz.

The public event will take place on Thursday, September 17, 2026 from 

5:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at the Goodman Community Center, Brassworks Building on 214 Waubesa St., Madison, WI. 

Facilitated by Dr. Ananda Mirilli, the forum aims to bring community members together for structured discussion, advocacy, and coalition-building.

The forum will begin with light refreshments followed by Introductions of the meeting hosts, table hosts, the sharing of ground rules, opening remarks, world cafe style meeting and then a panel.

When asked what the event is about and how the PCOB got involved, PCOB Chair of Community Engagement, Devon Snyder said “I am part of a group of community members planning a community forum focused on accountability, advocacy, public safety, community support, and coalition-building in response to critical community concerns and recent events.”
