MADISON (WKOW) — Mennonite Action Madison, along with members of other faith communities, held a vigil of song and prayer for Gaza at the Dane County Farmers’ Market Saturday.

The group brought more than 200 pairs of shoes as part of the demonstration, a symbol and reminder of the thousands of people killed in Gaza since October 7th of 2023.
J. Denny Weaver, a member of the Madison Mennonite Church, says it is important that Christians are visible in seeking justice.
“50,000 people have been killed so far in Gaza, and a couple thousand people in Israel, and we’d like to stop the killing,” Weaver said.
The demonstration included a prayer and hymns with rewritten words to protest the violence.
