We are sure you know that, despite the so-called “ceasefire,” Israel is still severely restricting the entry of aid to Gaza. While more food is available in the markets, it is out of reach for most families in Gaza because most of their homes have been destroyed and unemployment is at 80%.

This week MECA staff and partners are packing up parcels of fresh produce and chicken and delivering them to Palestinian families throughout the Gaza Strip. Each parcel includes 37.4 pounds of fruits, vegetables and chicken. We are especially excited to include apples and oranges to give children a special healthy treat.

With your support, MECA and our partners delivered 2,000 food parcels to families this week. Please make a donation of $50 for one food parcel, so we can get food to thousands more families.

For years before the genocide, MECA was delivering food parcels to the most vulnerable families in Gaza. And we have kept delivering food parcels throughout the genocide whenever there was food available.

MECA partners and volunteers are working incredibly hard and have such determination. With your additional support now, we can get more food to more people in the days and weeks ahead.

Thank you for your commitment and your generosity.

In solidarity,
All of us at MECA

Please take a few minutes to watch this video about how MECA is supporting Palestinian families to bake bread in Gaza during the brutal Israeli blockade.

Together with families who had some flour but no cooking fuel, MECA’s Gaza staff and the women we hired to bake found a way to quiet children’s cries of hunger until more food comes in.

You won’t see crowds of people desperately waiting in long lines for food they may or may not get.  Each family makes an appointment with the bakers and brings flour and whatever other food they have to feed as many people as possible.

MECA staff inside and outside Gaza are working constantly to find ways to sustain people who are trying to survive a famine and genocide.

Thank you for standing with Palestine once again.

In solidarity,

Dear friends,

It’s almost month two of the total Israeli blockade of Gaza. Infants and small children are already dying of malnutrition or dehydration.

Women can’t get enough food to sustain their pregnancies or to nurse their babies once they are born. Infant formula? Banned from entering Gaza by Israel along with everything else.

People who suffer terrible injuries from airstrikes can’t heal because their immune systems are so weakened from hunger. And thousands of children will have developmental impairments that will last their whole lives.

In the midst of this Israeli-made catastrophe, MECA’s four solar-powered community kitchens have actually increased our capacity to 20,000 meals a day.

How is that possible?

We stored large amounts of non-perishable food during the brief ceasefire in January and February when aid was allowed.

We’re still getting food from some farmers in Gaza who are able to grow and harvest vegetables.

Thankfully, the aid organizations in Gaza are working together and we received dry ingredients from the World Food Programme—which is also running out of food-—to help us increase the number of meals.

One of MECA’s kitchens still has flour and local women to bake bread

MECA kitchen staff are working double shifts to feed as many people as we possibly can.

20,000 meals a day sounds like a lot, and we are extremely proud of MECA’s staff and partners in Gaza who never give up. Still, it is not nearly enough when it is the only meal of the day, and there are one million children in Gaza at risk of starvation.

Soon, MECA’s kitchens will run out of food. Farmers will run out of water or their remaining land will be destroyed by Israeli bombs. That’s why none of us can give up either. Please, we urge you to take action and support people in Gaza any way you can.

Many thanks for your support and your solidarity,
All of us at MECA

P.S. Right now, there is enough food inside trucks just outside Gaza to feed the entire population for several months. We need to keep the pressure on to end the blockade, stop the bombing, and Let Gaza Live. Thank you.
