A message from Cassandra Dixon:
I recently returned from spending a month in the West Bank, and despite having visited repeatedly since 2006, I was shocked at what I saw. Life in the villages of Masafer-Yatta, at the southern end of the West Bank, has become nearly unlivable for many of its residents, who face unprecedented escalation of the frequency and severity of violent settler attacks on their flocks, land, homes, and bodies. The families of these rural villages are facing daily assaults on their way of life, including the theft and slaughter of their sheep and the burning and uprooting of their olive trees, and they are doing so alone, unseen and unsupported by the world.
So as this year closes, I invite you to participate in two small solidarity campaigns. Please consider sponsoring an olive tree, to be planted this spring in Masafer Yatta, or contributing to the cost of replacing sheep and goats stolen by Israeli settlers and maintaining the herds that are a way of life for many of these families. Both of these projects were requested by Palestinian residents of Masafer-Yatta who need our solidarity in this desperate time as they struggle to remain on their land.
Thank you,
Cassandra
