Faith Community Research and Outreach Internship

Position Description
The intern will survey Madison area churches and other faith-based groups regarding whether they engage in any work, outreach, or education regarding Palestine. The intern would draft the survey, compile a list of area churches to survey, and perform follow up contacts with each church to ensure a high response rate and to lay the groundwork for MRSCP to build relationships with area churches that engage in such activity or express interest in doing so.

The intern would also work with local faith leaders who are actively engaged in issues relating to Palestine to help draft the survey and strategize about how to better engage communities of faith on the issue.

Qualifications
Applicants must be currently enrolled in university, college, or technical college. A rudimentary knowledge about Middle East affairs is a plus, but not required; MRSCP will help an intern develop such rudimentary knowledge prior to starting the project, if necessary.

Supervision
The intern will work with MRSCP to develop the survey and will be asked to check in weekly with a member of MRSCP regarding her/his progress on the project. The intern will have considerable latitude to shape the project based on the progression of the project and the input they receive from members of the faith community. MRSCP will provide any verification or fill out any required paperwork that is required from the intern’s school if receiving credit for the internship is a possibility.

Salary
This internship position is unpaid, but MRSCP will subsidize expenses incurred by the intern in order to complete the project, if necessary, up to $200.

Start Date/Duration
This internship can be performed at any time of year, either over a summer or over a semester.

How to Apply
Applicants should send resume, contact information, and a brief cover letter explaining why they are interested in the position to rafahsistercity (at) yahoo.com.
