I went today and it’s in pristine shape, looks great. I went in to buy a pastry in support and told the barista that I came in due to the mural and many people are very supportive. He was appreciative. I also asked about the artist, he said they are independent and they ‘book out’ the wall on some sort of rotation and that murals tend to stay up longer in the winter, due to weather and painting, so let’s hope this stays up a while.

I told him I would pass along the call to support the business, due in part to the mural.

    Wow, so cool.

To me, this mural is clearly going for the heart of Palestinian culture with the colors of green, red, white & black, the olive branch, the prickly pear, flowers and the heart. Not exactly a call for terror, as is unfortunately the likely standard interpretation for anyone trying to justify Israel’s actions.

You could literally draw Palestinian children with flowers and you would probably get some misguided interpretations about it being a call for violence, like the babies dying, because their incubators have no fuel, being wrapped in green cloth. A green headband in support of Hamas would have “Ezz Al-Din Al Qassam Brigade” and “There is no other God but Allah and Mohammad is his messenger” on it in white Arabic letters.

I will go and get some coffee there in support.

Thank you for this beautiful, timely, and moving mural. I hope people view it and consider their role in propaganda and peace and how to fight the former while finally creating the latter.
