American-Arab Anti-Discrimination Committee (ADC), Apr 29, 2025
The Senate is moving forward with alarming legislation that threatens our civil rights. The Antisemitism Awareness Act of 2025 (S. 558) is scheduled for markup by the Senate HELP Committee tomorrow—and we need your voice now.
If passed, this bill—along with the adoption of the International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance (IHRA) definition of antisemitism—would give the Administration more power to silence dissent, especially on college campuses. We’ve already seen the consequences of Executive Order 14188:
- Billions in federal grants and contracts have been suspended or canceled,
- Students and legal residents have been arrested, detained, or deported,
- Constitutionally protected speech has been chilled.
This bill won’t stop antisemitism. But it will undermine our First Amendment rights and deepen political polarization. We need real, inclusive approaches that fight hate without sacrificing civil liberties.
Tell Your Senators to reject the Antisemitism Awareness Act.
