12 year old Mohamad Saleh was shot in the leg by an Israeli sniper during the Great March of Return protests in Gaza in 2018. Three years later doctors were forced to amputate his leg. Mohamad was the subject of a 2019 short film about his difficulties getting care and leaving Gaza for treatment. Now at 18 years old, he lives in exile in Egypt after fleeing Gaza with his mother following Israel’s campaign of genocide against Palestinians in Gaza.
“Severed” is a new short film about Mohamad’s escape to Cairo and his life now in Egypt, navigating family separation and an uncertain future.
Please join Defense for Children International – Palestine and film producer Donkeysaddle Projects for a virtual screening of “Severed” and discussion with the filmmakers on Zoom at 9 a.m. Pacific / 12 p.m. Eastern / 5 p.m. London / 7 p.m. Jerusalem time on July 9, 2025.
