The Israeli army carried out a massive wave of airstrikes on the Nabatieh area in southern Lebanon on 27 June, targeting what it claimed was “terror infrastructure” belonging to Hezbollah.

Successive air raids struck the Ali al-Taher forests, the Kfar Tibnit heights, and Nabatieh al-Fawqa, according to Lebanon’s National News Agency (NNA).

Israeli warplanes also bombed the area between the southern Lebanese villages of Zrarieh and Ansar. Video footage and images circulating on social media showed huge explosions as a result of the Israeli strikes.

The Israeli army said in a statement that it hit a facility used by Hezbollah to “manage its fire and defense array,” which was part of an underground site that was previously targeted.

“In recent days, the IDF identified attempts by the Hezbollah terror organization to restore the site and therefore the terror infrastructure in the area was struck,” it added.

At least one person was killed and 11 others wounded by the attacks on Nabatieh on Friday, the Lebanese Ministry of Health announced.

A day earlier, one person was killed in an Israeli drone strike which targeted a motorcycle in the town of Beit Lif, in the Bint Jbeil district of southern Lebanon. A truck in the town of Mays al-Jabal was also bombed.

The Israeli army said in a statement on Thursday that it killed two Hezbollah operatives.

“With great pride and honor, the Islamic Resistance announces the martyrdom of the mujahid Ali Muhammad Qarout from the town of Mays al-Jabal in southern Lebanon, who was martyred on the road to Jerusalem,” Hezbollah said.

Israel has been violating the ceasefire agreement with Lebanon every day since it was reached in November last year.

Hundreds of people have been killed in the seven months since the war came to an end.

Aside from Lebanese land that has been illegally occupied by Israel for decades, Israeli troops remain positioned in five locations on the border, where they established themselves during the ceasefire in stark violation of the deal.

Lebanese diplomatic efforts to secure their withdrawal from south Lebanon have continuously failed.
